what about a sp700 for $4500...........Help!!!!!!
Holy smoking deals, Batman! I wish I could have got a 700 for that kind of money. I bent over and paid $7500 for mine new. Now I always see where people get them cheaper than most new SP400s cost around here. Why do you suppose the midwest sells them cheaper than New England??
Any wya, congratulations! The water pump cover was a problem on the early 02s, just watch for coolant seepage on the right side of motor. I guess a lot of them have frames that crack, but I'm not sure where. So, I'd clean it real good and look it over. Even if you have to fix a few things, you got a good deal.

thanks for everything, but I still have a few more questions.
What would cause play in the steering. It's not much but would like to know.
What would cause the speedomiter not to work. (How much would one cost if I have to buy a new one)
Thats all ,for now anyways

There is some play in steering. Most likely place for wear would be ball joints, grab each rod to each and check for movement. As for the speedometer I would lift the back so the rear wheels could spin and remove the cable from the back of the speedo to see if is before speedo or the speedo. They run a couple hundred.

The new speedos are electronic. There is a speed sensor by the right wheel. It reads speed by 'counting' holes in the brake disk as they go by. Be sure it is in alignment with the disk, and close to, but not touching it.
If the backlight for the speedo doesn't come on, it is not getting power. Look for a bad wire, bad ignition switch, or bad speedo unit.
