Default 03 TRAILBOSS Trans Vibration

I just pic up a 03 trailboss and at HIGH idle it makes a awful VIBRATION/grinding sound while in neutral ,,,,

under load theres no sound at all , in F or R theres no sound either .....

I took it back to the dealer ( 1 hour old ) and the mechanic said all those bosses do that ....

factory polaris knows about this VIBRATION at high idle ...... we tried another one from the floor and it to did it but much less than mine .....

he said he's heard worse too ,,,, hmmm .

has anyone heard of this inhearent trans vibration problem before ......

dont get me wrong in gear it runs fine !!!!!!

well the dealer offer me a new one ( problem could still be there from the fatory though ) or "balance" the old one and see if they can take care of it ......
it could be something simple I just dont want a rebuild the first hour of idling , though a good look inside could reveal the problem and a GOOD balance always beats the factory.

do all you other TB owners have this same simptom ..... I'd hate to go thru 2-3 of these to find a good one.

Haven't had that on mine, but the trans case has devoloped a leak at 10 hrs .Also you need to check the 2 brass nipples that come out of the fuel tank to see if they are leaking fuel.I saw this in another forum , I checked mine & it also was leaking. At dealership now getting both leaks & the brakes fixed.

thanks all, Found out the problem, it was a ( harmonics of the gears while in neutral )

At just the right RPM’s in neutral I get some ( harmonic vibration ) that even extends to the rear shock springs.

I did get another atv and it was much less than the others we tried…….
Though at the right RPM it still send the plastic ( hood piece ) a shack’n

My hood does vibrate but it is an off road ATV. I put doublesided tape to stop the shake. belive me after a few trail rides there will be more Vibs!!!
