Matched Parts...Make a Difference?
#1
Does having matched parts make a difference? I mean does it REALLY make a difference to have a clutch kit and pipe from the same manufacturer?
In today's world I don't really see where there would be that much of a difference....the parts don't know what/who they are mated with....
Now for my other question.....I need a pipe and clutch kit.....what would be the best setup for my Scrammy? (I know about the Aggressive Trail kit, I just don't like the looks of the pipe---hence my original question)

It isn't so much that they have to be from the same maker, but they have to be tuned together.
For example, there isn't much to be gained in a high-RPM, racing pipe/port kit, if the clutch is set to run the engine at too low an RPM to utilize it.
Conversely, you don't want a trail pipe, and a 8000RPM upshift.

I know were you are coming from. In my mind there are two basic reasons to keep matched components from on manufacture.
1. Each of the main manufactures does R&D and makes there clutching work with the power band of there pipe. If you go with one persons pipe and another persons clutching you probably will not be getting the max capable performance.
2. Service !!! If you are having a problem, The particular manufacure may not be familiar with the others parts so it is more difficult to diagnose your problem.

Thanks for the responses.....I hadn't really thought about the service end of it....having to only deal with 1 company would be ideal.
Thanks for heads up BBS, I'll be sure to give 'em a call!

I would strongly recommend that you stay with the same manufacturer
of pipe and clutch. I have a highly modified TB250 that I wasted alot of
money on because of parts that didn't match up.
So now it has all HPD mods and it made a big difference.
