Wheelies / Balance Point on TB400
#1
I've been working on wheelies on a trail blazer 400 and was wondering if anybody has mastered them on this bike yet? The balance point on the bike seems to be almost vertical. I can get a decent wheelie below the balance point but you eventually run out of throttle ...
I have had a blast trying different things, I can kneel on the seat and flip it up on end no problem... I also sit on the seat and stand it on end, get off and push it back down. What I would like to do is one of those slow, constant speed wheelies. My friend has a 300 ex and it seems like it has a more stable balance point and can hold better at constant speed. I guess this big heavy bike is not the best wheelie machine out there.
The bike is all stock, I'm 6'4 at 220lbs. any pointers?

I had a Sport 400....they wheelie good as you said, but yeah they can be a little hard to keep up. I think that the weight and the auto tranny make it difficult because it doesn't respond instantly to throttle changes...you pretty much have to keep practicing until you can predict what it is going to do before it happens...at least that was how mine was. 400ex's and quads like that are lighter and respond differently to the throttle cause of the manual clutch.
You are right, the balance point is pretty high. for me, i had to pull mine up from pretty much a dead stop so you have to figure the slower you are going the higher the balance point is. If you are cooking down the road at 40mph and pull it up, it doesn't have to come up as high to balance. That wasn't an option with my Polaris.
So really my only advice is practice a lot. Get it up to balance point as quick as you can and concentrate on being very smooth with your throttle control. The less mistakes you make with the throttle the less you have to compensate and correct.
Good luck bro.

hey i have a tb 250 and the way i found out that works best is to put your left foot and the back wheelie bar to get it and and your right foot still on the floor board so if it comes up to far u can push it down some. the way i do it that im at a complete stop push down on the back and give it a lil bit of gas then once i have it up i get a lil bit of gas just enough to get me going and just feather the gas i can get mine doing a prety fast wheeile or i can get mine doing a wheeile at a walking speed jsut pratcie in some fields until u get a hang of it and u will be riding wheeiles with the best of them. my longest is about 2 mins.

2 mins on a tb 250...wow...I can get mine to go about 30 or so feet...but then again I am 6'2 and 240 lbs. the way I figured out how to do good wheelies is to put one of my knees on the seat with the front of my knee just behind the P in polairs on the seat...give it gas and pull up and push down with my knee. have had it standing on end once and then just got off and pushed it over and kept riding

ok guys
here you go.
USE THE BRAKE!!
You can balance the thing forever with the break. i can go anywhere on my 250, around corners, over bumps, over rocks, through puddles etc all on the back tires.
try the brake
