Default SP Cam.... What would you do??

Goodmorning,

I have a 97 sportsman with 3900 miles on it. I have owned it for the last 15-1700 miles.

Well, last night I tore the front plastic off of my quad. My cooling fan is not working properly so I wanted to look at it and I also want to change the bottom steering post bushing. Since I had the plastic off, I thought I would check the clearance on the rockers. They were right on spec, but my exhaust lobe is worn quite badly. In fact, it appears that the lobe is only about half as high as the intake lobes. After work today, I'll take a dial indicator and compare the two. Now, I am looking at waiting for about 2 weeks for parts, as well as spending about 350 cdn for the parts to fix this. The bike has not missed a beat and still runs like a champ with no power loss. I am thinking about buttoning it back up and finishing the season like this. Then over winter tearing it down and re-doing the cam. My father-in-law ussually borrows it for hunting season (about 100 mi), and I'll maybe make 2-3 trips with it yet (about 200 mi). Normally they start backfiring etc when the cam gets to bad, so it's not like it'll quit without warning.

My question is this. What would you do? Bite the bullet and fix it because it is showing wear, or delay fixing it till winter when you can't ride?
