well if you look on my picture page you'll see that the radiator top was broken by the previous owner and he put a stopper in it..... well i was riding last weekend and roosting on a hill and all of the sudden i see what looked like smoke so i was like damn what now. and what happend is the stopper came out and coolant was coming out and making steam. anyway i checked and to replace the radiator top is 299.99 from partsland [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]. is there anything i can do that isn't gonna cost me an arm 'n a leg? I'm thinking about getting another stopper some where but its not that safe seeing as how i think it blocks the overflow.

 

Where's it broken? You may be able to get a friendly neighborhood welder/metal worker to help you fashion a new top.

 

Not that this helps but you should be able to get that radiator cheaper than $299.00. Seems like the last one i replaced was around $230.00. Still spendy though. Looks like the small lips that hold the cap on are what is broke on the radiator. Your best bet is what rookwv said and bring it to a welder that specializes in automotive radiator repair work. They may be able to cut out the spigot and weld a used car one on there for you from an old car radiator. Otherwise it might have to be what you have or replace with new rediator. You could also just have someone weld a cover over the top but then you wouldn't be able to add any coolent but if you don't have any coolent leaks you should be able to top it off and not have any problems. your overflow would then work. This would work just fine until your able to replace the radiator entirely. good luck.

 

Isnt your radiator neck plastic? My cousin broke the cap off of his last month, and the radiator repair shop tpld him "no dice". But he did find a used one from a used parts dealer for 130$, with a waranty. Check the classafied ads in the back of som ATV magazines. Good luck!

That's right they are plastic, i wonder if they ever updated those and went to all metal. I have a 2002 that is metal.

 

I think I saw a radiator on ebay. Might look into it.
