just bought a 1995 425 magnum have a few questions
#1
I paid $2200.00 for the bike. needs some work. The tires are 1/2 worn out. It needs a tie rod. It has a rattle at idle , found a broken engine mount . I removed the front mount & went to get a new mount I had to start the bike to move it & i noticed that with no front mount the rattle was gone. when i installed
the new mount the rattle was back again . when I hold the pull start cover , with my hands tight enough
the rattle goes away. The cover is not loose or anything but just the extra support when pushing on the
engine makes the rattle go away . It sounds very bad , like a engine knocking but like i said by supporting
the engine the rattle goes away . The bike works very well & has lots of power . I thought mabey the clutch was rattling . Also i dont have a book for the bike yet & i was wondering how to adjust the chains & how tight should they be. Does anyone have any ideas about fixing this rattle or adjusting the chains i woud appreciate some suggestions. thanks

Check all the mounts with a big pry bar or screwdriver by moving the engine and make sure all are tight.
Then take off the clutch cover on the left side of the engine and make sure the inner rubber seal that seals the clutch assembly is is not damaged from the other mount being broken. While you are there check the whole clutch assembly out so you know whats what and that all is ok. The older Polaris atvs are so simple once you you take one apart. Buy a book and read up.
