Default possible cracked head

how much coolant has to come out for it to be cracked ? looks like i got 1 or 2 drops dried out on the outside of the cylinder wall out of the weep hole should any come out of the weep hole at all? i took a very hard roll the other day, hit a rock at night, flipped the bike around a couple of times. as i said not very much at all, just some dried up drops, probally from last week of riding

Default possible cracked head

Jcal, I'm in the same boat. I started noticing that my machine would leak antifreeze out of that weephole, but only when the cylinder was cold and the day would warm up. Looked at diagrams and didn't make sense...and I was 3 months over warranty. Called polaris anyway, and they said that yes, if the machine was made before Jan 1, 2003, that they did have a batch of heads that were pourous due to bad batch of metal. So even though I was way past warranty, they are going to do full warranty and give me a new head. I would get to your dealer and do the same. I didn't have a roll that took it out...no cracks. But no, antifreeze should not come out that weep hole...it is only a weep hole for the spark plug chamber if it gets water in it!! If you see antifreeze coming out that hole...you have a problem...and it's not a head gasket...it's either a cracked head, or a pourous one. But like I said, polaris warrantied it (are in the proccess of...the head is backordered a week) even though I'm 3 months past warranty...so hopefully they cover you!

If you are getting any coolant out of the weep hole at the bottom of the engine then your water pump seal has gone and needs replacing. This is a very common problem with the liquid cooled engines. Unless you buy the special tool to remove the old seal it cannot be done at home without great risk of bending the water pump shaft.

definately a cracked head. The dealer will do a coolant leakdown test to confirm and if it doesn't pass, polaris will do a warrenty. same thing happened to me.
