Fouled plugs in new 600.

I've got less than 100 miles on my 600 and was riding in the mountains of NC when my plugs fouled. Any ideas why this happened so early? I run 89 or higher octane. I was climbing a steep incline when they fouled. I had no indication of trouble until I was in the middle of the climb.

More than likely your pilot jet is too rich (and maybe your main). The 600 and 700 seem to be jetted a bit rich from the factory. If you plan on putting in a K&N air filter you can probably keep running the current jetting. Otherwise I would drop the pilot one size leaner.

Thanks for all the advice. I just pulled new plugs out and they are black. Since it's still under warrantee, I'm taking it back to the dealor. I plan on getting a k&N air filter in the near future. Also, I checked my gas tank to see how much gas I am using and I almost used a full tank to ride 30 miles in the mountains. This is not good and is an indication that something is wrong in the carborator. Also, my book says that the 600 is good from 0 to 6000 ft elevation. It's hard to believe it can handle that much of a variance.

To be honest, I don't think it can handle that much variance - at least with stock jetting. It already is jetted too rich, and by the time you get to 6000 feet, you are right on the edge. I know Polaris makes that claim, but I honestly think one step leaner would be a good idea, unless you run a K&N... and even then I would do a plug check.
