If you unplug the connector to the switch the fan and hot light will stay on. Thats the way it is set up except for the early 325 models. The thermister is most likley your problem. It sends a resistance signal to the module that determines when to turn the fan and hot light on and has been prone to fail on occasion.

The fanrunning on an air cooled moter wont hurt a thing.Lots of people wire them up to do that to make them run cooler. But if you have had this bike from the start and worry about it check the sensor.

Charlie, thanks for clearing that up. I just assumed it was like my Xplorer, where the temp sensor was like an on-off switch that tripped at a certain temperature.

Ftwflh is right, it won't hurt anything. In fact, I know of guys who wired their fan to a toggle switch, and have it on all the time, except for when in deep water (if the fan is running and gets submerged, it is not good for it). Won't hurt a thing, and you know for sure that the fan is working. Some guys don't like the noise of the fan always on, and others don't like the battery drain, but it doesn't really hurt anything. Just runs the battery down quicker if the switch is on without the engine running.

I'm sure that it woudn't hurt to let the fan run, but the last time I rode the temp light came on too and I know it wasn't hot. I f I don't fix it, and it really runs hot, well you know what I'm getting at.

I have the exact problem with mine. Well actually its not a problem but my fan never comes on. It never runs hot though either. The design allows alot of air flow to the motor so even in the hottest summer days mine never runs hot. I've seen alot of other quads that are air cooled w/an oil cooler that almost have the entire motor covered with plastic shrouds. (the prairie 360 and suzuki eiger come to mind) My sister has the prairie 360 and their fan is running almost constantly.

Mine was the same way for the first year. Then it sat pretty much all winter and that's when the fan started running. I thought that maybe there was something wrong with the fan because it had NEVER came on before, but I've heard of alot of other Trailbosss owners that say the same thing, that it never comes on.

Yeah, I know what your'e going to say, but don't say it . I should have mentioned that it sat all winter, but, I did start and let it warm up good every few days.
