I am new to atv's and looking at magnum 330 and sportsman 400. I will use this for hunting and basic trail riding. Anyone that has info about these two atv's would be great. thanks for any help.

 

When I went to buy me and my wife an ATV in July, was going to get her the Magnum 330. After talking price, the Sportsman 400 was only $400 more. With the Sportsman you get a 95cc bigger engine (it's actually a 425cc), liquid cooled, IRS, and a nicer headlight pod/speedo. To me it was well worth the price difference, so I got a SP400 for each of us. We have taken them through some nice trails, lots of water, rock climbs, etc. and are very happy with the Sportsman.

 

They are both good quads but the sportsman is alot better. It has alot more power,irs front and rear and just over all better.

 

Advantage to Magnum:

Simpler, less to break (no liq. cooling, no IRS)
they now have the ATP front rack
cheaper
not quite as heavy

Advantage to Sportsman
more power
beter suspension, smoother ride, more clearance
harder to overheat (liq. cooling)
better resale

 

I agree with the above in Canada about $800 dollars more gets IRS and a slightly larger engine but the simplicity of the magnum is a definate advantage. In the imortal words of Scotti " The more you complicate the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the pipes" Both are great bikes and would take either and be happy but for a few dollars more I would get the Sportsman. Personally I don't understand why the price difference is so close.
