Is it time to change brands?

Modquad - One of the reasons Polaris is wanting to put out more sleds and sell them is cause for the first year in quite sometime Bombardier (Ski-doo) has out sold Polaris for top dog with there new REV platform.

Wouldn't a better way (then again just my opinion) to do that could be maybe offer the latest and greatest inovations on your new machine to stir up the industry, and hence lure sales increases that way. The recreational market has always had a substantial amount of customers wanting to have the latest and greatest. Give them the latest and greatest, pull out all the stops, sure you might alienate some, but they'll get the hint the first blast across the lake.
Customers also identify with the win on Sunday, and sell on Monday. The WSA arena, Arctic Cat, and Ski Doo have been simply dominating. Step up, get the riders, give them the gear. They win races, the local mom and pop dealership which has been a local cornerstone will have machines flying out the door.
Some might say that form of business logic has long since passed. Look at Suburau and Mitsubishi. During one of our harescrambles this last summer, we shared some facilities with the rally folks. I have never seen this long running event be sooooo huge. Talking with people behind the scenes, the common thread was everyone stated how the two corporations had stepped up. They tossed in the cars, the support, and boom the sales went through the roof.
Build it and they will come. Build it on the edge, and they'll come with eyes as big as quarters, and a level of consumer enthusiam as big as a 5 year old on Christmas morning.
I should clarify, that I don't by any means mean to get too far off course and start bashing. Polaris has been really kicking out some fun gear....Victory Vegas, Predator, 700 Sportsman, Jet Boats. All some incredible risks, and look at how the sales followed. I just wish they'd "risk" it on the sled, so the brand I want to be loyal to can remain at the dealer who has been loyal to me. Product innovation is the key to big sales, not big corporate "idea" innovation. Darn soapbox!

if yall will look at polaris products they are allways improving on all there products. the looks maybe the same but look under the skin. dont be close minded. yes polaris uses some jap parts im ok with that. polaris is american owned and employ americans. and for the economy it will come back in fact it coming back as we speak the maine stream media i mean the lebral owned media wont report on that because they want GWB. to fail. when he is doing a good job. brung back high standerds and good morles into the whitehouse. The economy was in resest before GWB took office. the twin towers going down didnt help any. alot of goverment being spent is going toward the war on terror and im ok with lets get um now so my kid might not have to deal with it later. there are allways somebody wanting to kill us cause we are a free nation. part of this terror should have been delt with in the last administration instead of turning there heads.

assembles, get parts from overseas. Nothing new, you can hardley buy anything truley american
made any more.
These companys (not only the cars company) most corprations have or get many products from
over seas for even mexico. Why cheap cheap labor. NOw I don't think that GWB or even Clinton
had started this it has been going on for a very long time. Could we blame it on the labor unions
that demanded unrealistic pay or benefits? poor economy, stupid lawsuits that cost everyone?
Now some things I think that are made overseas is better standards and quality than you could get here. But anyway I will get off the saop box now.
Just another point of veiw. Some big corparations are hurting for money and will have to cut cost on however they deem so, so times I think the higher paid CEO may need to look at their pay first then start from there instead of starting at the people that acutally do something.
Kmart prime example chapter 7 and the Ceo had a bonus package of over a million. Whats up with that????

The funny thing is that when you buy american you are not exacly always buying american along with the fact they all use other countries parts most of them have been assembled in other countries as well. For instance, I was a tech for Chrysler and the Dodge Ram extended cab was produced in Mexico. Several others are made in Canada. Our American companies are farming out our labor to other countries so when we say "Buy American and Americans work" that is not always true, it should say Buy American and some Americans, Mexicans, and Canadians Work. I personally have no problem with this but I have to argue with some my Union friends that hate anything that is not "Made in America" even though they are driving the Ram and others that were produced in Mexico. Sorry this just gets me going.

Having worked for Lincoln Mercury before, I have to back you up on that.....that was over 10 years ago, and there already were quite a few Mexican and Canadian parts in the mix. I guess I don't have that much of a problem with that ....and all the NAFTA stuff, it's still my original concern about alienating (or should I state "cutting off") the long time family run dealership. Especially with the way the economy has been. But then again, I suppose in the cut throat world of business.....compassion has probably left the building.
Being a veteran, my chocolate milk is made with Hershey's chocolate syrup.....not some chocolate powder with a French origin. It's a small statement, I know, but it's my statement.
