I wrecked into a 5 foot deep pool of water upside down. What needs to be removed to take off the carb? I drained the filters housing area, and replaced the plug, Is there anything else that I am forgetting?

to take the carb off you need to remove the rear plastic,then take the 2 bolts holding the airbox to the frame,loosen the clamps around the carb and it will slide right out..hope this helps..

 

Change the tranny oil and counter balance oil ,clean carb,and iff you have front shaft drive change the fluid in it too.Take the clutch cover offf and check the cluthes and bet.Next remember this is a ATV not a jet ski[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Is it a 500 or 400 scrambler? To get the carb off on a 500 scrambler you need to remove the front plastic, gas tank, lossen up the air box, and remove the 2 screws that bolt it to the frame. You also need to remove the fuel lines from the carb.

 

Spewy. How did you get it out and back on the wheels? How did it end up going in? I dont know about yours but my 500 wont float like my old honda 250x did.

Down at Wayne National Forest. Took a jump and didn't realize the 4-5 foot deep pool was on the other side of the jump. I was kinda nose divin' anyway and the rest is history. Comfortable headfirst landing though (all things considered). Water and mud broke my fall. I was with a group of 8 and leading so it was quite a surprise. They had a tow rope and some helping hands to get it out.

400 2 stroke. Does it need the same as the 500 seeing that the 500 is a four stroke?

Since it is the 400 things would be different. Obviously there is no engine oil to change. You may want to change your oil for the oil injection. And change your counter balance oil as well as your tranny and front diff oil. I would also pull the clutch cover off and clean up the clutches, especially if it was dirty water
