Default Need Help - Pricing

Have found a dealer with some brand new, out of the box '02 Sportsman. Offering a SP 400 at $5450 and a SP 500 at $6100.

These sound a little high to me, being they are 2 model years old. Still get full warranty.

What do you guys think?

Also, curerently have Quadrunner 250 4x4 and Kodiak 400 4x4. Replacing the Quadrunner. Need more power. Not crazy about the stability of the Kodiak, but like the power of it. And the auto tranny. Will I be happy with the Sportsman? The Quad has the independant rear which I like.

I BOUGHT MY 325 TRAILBOSS LIKE THAT, THE PROBLEM IS, AS SOON AS YOU DRIVE OFF THE LOT YOU HAVE AN OLD FOURWHEELER.IF YOU PLAN ON KEEPING IT A LONG TIME, IT MAY NOT MATTER, BUT IT IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. YOU MIGHT WANT TO BOOK OUT A USED ONE IN PERFECT CONDITION TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA........GOOD LUCK

That's kinda what I was thinking. They are pricing the '04 400 at $5800 and 500 at $6500. That's not much difference for the 2 model years.

Are the '04 prices pretty much in line?

The price is kinda high. I only paid 5600 for my 04 400 and it has alot of features better than the 02 models. The digital display is awsome with a built in tach and the newest 04's have a on dash fuel gauge. Plus the front end looks way better in my opinion than the older models.

Get an 04. It's got the improved shift pattern (straight versus the older 'h' pattern), and the front hubs are different. They don't stick out where they can scrape rocks, etc. This may not sound like much, but they were both issues for me. My shifter box had a problem and had to be replaced, and my front hubs were damaged the first time I went crawling through the boulders.

I paid $6450 out-the-door for my 03, but I've seen them for less.

That price seems high to me also. I bought an 04 SP 400 in July for $5250, and still wish I would have waited for the 04.5 to get the different shift pattern, hubs and fuel guage.

When I got my 04.5 Sportsman 400, the dealer was originally asking $6300, but I told him I was here before and a guy had told me $5600, so I got it for that. Like everyone else has said, you might as well get the 04.5 model. Not that much more expensive, it's brand new, and you get the benefit of the design improvements. I've got about 430 miles on mine already, and I love it to death. Worth every dollar.

I should have clarified. That was for a 500. Not the 400. Still high?
