Predator problem?
Ok, has anyone heard of a predator motor breaking? At a polaris dealership they have 2 new predators in back getting worked on b/c the head on the predator broke in half? I hope this isnt a big problem that is gonna start to form, and hope that it was just a one-in-a-million flaw in ther motor.

The early Predators (Usually early November build) had a problem with a bad head design. Polaris was taking care of this issue as they happened. The newer ones (Mid to late November and on) were an improved design that didn't have this problem.
My Troy Lee has a build date that is right around the time of the bad heads so I still may have this problem when I get some hours on it. I just passed 10 hours on my last ride in July and don't know when I'll get to take it out again due to time issues.

Predator problem?
Yeah, my head didn't crack, but was pourous. My born on date was 12/17. I belive the cutoff date was 12/31/02. Anything before that has the chance to crack or leak antifreeze. But polaris didn't want to deal with the recall, just let the problem filter out. don't worry though. If your head goes, have your dealer call polaris and they will warranty the head and the labor for replacement, even if you are out of warranty.

The date of manufacture date can be found on the tube of the frame just ahead of the radiator. And I mean pourous in that there were bad batches of metal so the heads contained small air pockets. My head never cracked, but when the engine was cold and the day warmed up, coolant would leak out the spark plug weep hole.
