How much difference??
#1
I presently own a 2000 sportsman 500 and was thinking of getting something a little more sportier and still keep the sportsman. I was just wondering if I should get a 500 Scrambler or a 400 2-stroker and how much faster they are compared to my sportsman. We mostly trail ride and such but would like something more agile than my sportsman.Any help appreciated.

I just traded my '02 Scrambler 500 4x4 for a new Sp600. I mostly ride with people who own utility machines like the Sp 500 or Grizzly. I have raced my Scrambler against these utility machines numerous times and my Scrambler beat them all in a 600 ft drag race. You will notice a difference in pick up between the Sp500 and Scrambler (chain drive makes a difference).
I would highly recommend the Scrambler 500. It proved to be a reliable machine for me and it gets a 10 out of 10 on the fun meter. You will love it for all around trail riding. The comfort is surprising for a sport machine.
The only reason I traded it in for a Sp600 is for insurance premium reasons. I have about 300 miles on my Sp600 and I must say it is very agile for a 720lb monster.
Have fun with the Scrambler (I know you will not resist the temptation to buy one!!)
