Default What Tools should I always carry?

A tubeless tire patch kit (with LOTS of plugs) and a portable 12V air compressor is a MUST! I believe someone in our group or someone that we’ve run across on the trails has used our compressor on every multi-day outing we’ve had. Two weeks ago I used 7 plugs in two large sidewall holes and rode another 50 miles after that before calling it a day (I also run with “Slime” in all of my tires). Hopefully you have a utility quad riding with your group that can carry the compressor and any other bulky items you bring along.

Another handy gadget would be a garden sprayer (a larger one), one that you fill with liquid (in this case – water) and pump the handle to add air pressure. You can keep this with your hauling vehicle so when you come back you can clean off your radiator (if going to a car wash is not on the agenda). Of course you can spend more money and get one of those portable 12V mini pressure washers too, but the garden sprayer (less portable) can get the job done.

One thing that I would add to the list is to carry some Alumiseal (sp?) in case you get a leak as well as having extra fluids and a spare belt. It is also a good idea to carry some water with you as well as some rags or towels. You never know when you may need that stuff. I also like to carry waterproof matches with me and a leatherman knife.
