what to get scrambler 400 or 500
#1
Ok this spring i bought myself a Trailblazer 250 for a first quad so i could see if i would like riding and to get use to a quad. I had intended to ride this through this year and then get the trailblazer 400 and give the 250 to my wife well as you know the 400 got discontinued but there was still all this hipe about a new quad so i have been waiting to see what it would be but its just anouther sportsman. Well what i am getting at is do you think i should by myself a new scrambler 500 or should i get a used 400?
I really like the speed of the two stroke and how zippy they are and i dont really need the 4 wheel drive of the 500 "I am afraid it will affect the handling and just make the front end heavy" but i can get a brand new 500 . So what would you do buy new one you are ok with or used one that you really want?? I am kind of concerned with buying a used 2 stroke I know how i beat them and i bet every one else does two..

i would go with the 400 2-stroke,its bad enough all polaris machines are heavy as tanks but at least the 400 is under 500lbs the extra weight does make it handle alot different,it feels it to me anyway..im thinking about selling my 2002 scrambler400 2x4 im asking $3600 ive ridden it but havent beat it that bad,it has alot of new parts and a few performance parts..

Well I love My New Scrambler...
I can jus hit the Gas & she goes up...
Hit a few jumps so Far, But not no-where near enough!! *Just need more tyme to ryde*
Also It's nice to have Either 2wd or Awd.
W/ a New Quad, you also don't have to worry about 'What the last owner did'
But it all comes down to what you want.. & if you don't mind paying for a new quad..
Another thing to consider is do you want 2 or 4 stroke?
Well for myself, I rather have a 4, I don't want to rebuild my Engine...
You always hear how people are always Rebuilding 2-stroke.

Id get a 400 because there faster then than the 500.Plus they will last u longer than u think. My trailblazer 250 is a 98 and has never been rebuilt and still has all the power when it was new.Plus my 98 300 xpress has never been rebuilt ether and its still going strong.

I use to own a 97 400 sport 2 stroke. I now own a 03 scrambler 500 4x4 and without a doubt I like the scrambler better. To me there is not enough differance in speed between the two to warrant buying the 2 stroke. Another problem I had with the 2 stroke is @ higher elevations the dang thang would spit and sputter and fowl out plugs like crazy. My pick is the 500 but it all depends on what type of riding your going to do. If you ride a lot of tight trails where your going slow I would definately go with the 500 but if you ride wide open spaces and like running wide open then you may like the 400. Having the ability to enguage 4 wheels on the 500 is great. I love it!

What-ever mach you do buy, just warm it up and run a compression test on it. I'll allways bring my tester and plug wrench with me when I buy used. You can get what it should read right here. I'll do this on all used mach I buy, if they will'nt let you than no sell.
