Winter tires
#1
Hi everyone,
I am looking for quality tires for Winter conditions. I own a 2004 Sp600 with Rawhides and I drove it out this weekend. The temperature was around freezing point and I found the rawhides to have poor traction at low temperatures and this will not get any better as Winter is coming fast.
I am also considering adding studs to my rawhides. Will this make them a safer cold weather tire? If not, please give me suggestions for quality Winter tires.
Thanks

Hi there MnFriesen,
I live in Southern Quebec. We get a little bit of everything throughout the Winter: Snow, rain, freezing rain. The trail conditions can therefor change dramatically from week to week. I am looking for a tire that will give me good traction for most of these Winter conditions.
As I said in my first contribution, I rode in 26 degree weather this past weekend and the rawhides were not gripping very well in areas where the ground surface was frozen. I will keep them on my quad for a while to test them out again in the coming colder weeks but based on this first experience, I do not think the rawhides are designed for sub-freezing weather trail riding.
