Default tire leak

I had a friend put fix a flat into my tire -can i put tire slime in them or should they be cleaned out before it is added? What the best way to do it? Is it hard to get the tires changed - can a local car shop do it?
thanks

You can put tire slim in there but I prefer to clean it out first...break the bead on 1 side and take a wet rag and get what ever what is in there, then when that is done put the tire on then take out the valve stem and add the tire slim and put it back in....I dunno if a car shop will do it or not but someone else might know.....

Most car shops will do them I think most Discount Tires charge about $5 a tire. Fix-a-flat is nasty stuff. Let then know that it is in there first. Slime is not as bad. It does a great job of sealing small and medium puntures. But, I have a problem with it throwing the tire balance off at high speeds

FYI - I get my Slime HD from Tractor Supply by the gallon for $28 w/pump (much easier than squeezing the bottle & way more economical) - I use a quart in each tire and have yet to have a total flat (knocking on wood right now ) - even after many NASTY looking thorns.
