Hi guys, this is my first time here... and I just ordered my Sp 500 HO today..It will be a week before it gets here and I want to know as much about it as I can before it gets here...
Belive it or not I have not ever rode a polaris quad.Previous rides were a 1984 250R(long ago) and I still have a 96 trx 300 2x4.Thanks Rodmax

Cold starts are not hard, just pull the choke and turn the key. It should start right up, might be alittle harder if you didn't break it in yet. After its running push the choke in slowly and it should idle. Let it warm up for 5 minutes and have fun. Remember it my be alittle strange running , and it may stall a couple times while idling until the engine is broken in. SO don't get nervous. Top speed is around 58 maybee 60. I have gotten to that when I had mine. I don't the know MPG on gas but mine was very good and I never ran out, just gased it up full every ride and never had any issues. Just make sure your battery water levels are at the full mark because if the quad is in a cold place in the winter, it will help your battery to be up to its max position. It can hold a charge better. I havn't had any problems with my battery going dead in cold weather while in storage, but it can happen, so don't freak out if you turn the key and the starter barely turns or can't turn. You may want to invest in a betery tenderizer, but thats only if you have dead battery problems.

Cant help you with the cold starts because it really does not get cold enough down here for a real comparison of cold weather performance but I can tell you they are excellent machines. I have owned two and we have owned 5 as a family and all have been excellent. THe independant rear suspension is tops for ride and ground clearance and the power is very good. They are tops in the mud and on the trail. I hear they are excelent snow plowers but I would have no personal experieice with that living in Texas.
Top speed on both of mine has been 60 mph.
