My dealer lost a customer for a problem exactly like this on mine.

Long story short: I worked on it a while. Didn't fix it. Took it to dealer, told them what I had already done. Called and said it was fixed. $80.00 later, took it home. Not fixed. Looked into it myself again. Found the fuel vent from carb clogged. Blew it clean. Runs again.

Anyway, it is likely something else, but check the fuel vent on the carb (if a 2 stroker has one, and I assume it does). It is a long clear/white hose running out of the carb body.

when it does it, does it make a real low "boggy" type noise liek when you try to floor it in reverse without the overdrive on?

If it does, then mine does the same friggen thing, im gonna try to change the fuel filter and do the thing brainpause said, because it does it because it not getting any gas. I know this because the other day it did it because my tank had run dry out of gas, and it sounded like that until it finnally died. Something must be blocking fuel. If anyone has had this problem and sucessfully fixed it, EMAIL ME!!!! MY EMAIL IS ATVRIDERDUDE07@AOL.COM my aim is atvriderdude07 also.

Simster,

You are describing EXACTLY what mine sounded like with the fuel vent clogged. Of course, there are several conditions that could make it sound like this. Yes, it was like the reverse limiter had come on just as I nailed it.
