All 2000 Scrambler owners please read

This year my son, wife and I bought 3 new 4x4 Scramblers, 2-500 and 1-400 all 2000 models, the 400 was bought 2 months after 500s, and we noticed the 400 had different rims, not Aluminum like the 500s, after looking closer the running boards and front bumper also have been changed to steel. Now I read in Dirt Wheels magazine, March 2000 issue page 56 above ride review it plainly says the 400 4x4 comes with all Aluminum parts, then if you look in Polaris brochere it shows the 400 4x4 with the Aluminum rims (same as my 2 500s) and the 2x4 with different rims, and in Polaris accessory catalog it gives part numbers for stock rims and the 2x4 and 4x4 rims are different, well my sons 400 4x4 has all steel parts, no Aluminum and it seems polaris changed this with out telling anyone, you can tell by using a magnet to tell if you got taken also. these quads were supposed to have aluminum parts so email polaris customer service at http://www.polarisindustries.com and let them know if you also got taken

Polaris is known for changing things at random and telling no-one, not customers, dealers, mechanics, etc. Usually it's for the better though.
I would prefer steel floor boards and bumper. Although heavier, it's stronger. My aluminum floor boards bend all the time (but I hit some nice rocks...) and I also managed to "re-arrange" my front bumper.

I purchased a 00 Scrambler 400 4x4 the same day my uncle did from the same place ans mine has aluminum and his has steel. Mine was off the showroom floor but his had to be taken out of the crate. I think mine is a 2000 and his is a 2001.
Weird though!

I agree it ain't right, but there is little you can do about it.
Polaris, and all other manufacturers have little sayings in their brochures. This is what Polaris' looks like.
"Polaris reserves the right to change specifications at any time without incuring obligation."

I don't know how much extra they would add, but our 400 has gotten some little dings on outer rims in front and they already show small signs of rust and it was ridden 3 times for about 150 miles, its only 5 months old. I guess it just burns me up that they would switch in any model year without telling anyone. We would of checked all of the quads at the dealer and took the one with Aluminum parts if we would of known. Otherwise we like the quads. I found a pinhole in one of my front CV boots today, what luck
