Polaris belts have Kevlar in them as well. In belts they call it Aromax cord. After market offer higher Aromax content so they stretch less. They can and do have better ruber compounds for less slip. They can actually wear faster due to the fact they are hi performance belts. Kind of like Nascar tires, they go through a few sets in one race but a regular tire would never have that kind of performance.

so, then you are saying that it is indeed, better to go with a aftermarket belt than the 700 v-twin upgrade? if so, where do i get a aftermarket belt, and which one would you reccommend?

I run a Dayco MaxII belt. There is also a Dayco Max. The Dayco Max my dealer offers as a "better" replacement than stock. They also charge about $10 more for it. I found Dayco's web site and used their dealer search function. I found a logging supply that charged $30 less, including shipping on the MaxII which is an even higher perf. belt than the Max. Are you better off with this belt over stock? I can't say. All I can do is give you the info and let you talk to the companies yourself. The stock belt may last longer, but it may not give the performance of a hi.perf.belt. Dayco's Belt site.
