No more than you have to change it it is better to stay with the Polaris oil.

Gotta agree there. The Polaris fluid is a nice synthetic, that protects through all the crap we put these things through. Like Big Bad stated, the Amsoil is a suitable substitute. Change that at least once a year, more often if you're doing some serious deep muddin'.

the only thing that isn't amsoil in my bike is the gas. i use their series 2000 chaincase lube in my tranny. hasn't done me wrong yet. in most cases using the manufacturer's oil you can't go wrong, i've never used the polaris synthetic except when the bike was new so i can't really make a comment on it. i run amsoil in everything i own. that's my opinion for what it's worth, and i'ts just an opinion. use a compatible product that you feel comforatable with. if i weren't using amsoil i'd probably use the polaris stuff.

Last winter I went through the Sports trans, just for preventative. Changed out the chain, was a bit stretched, and removed that huge reverse gear. I've made sure to change it at least once a year, and that payed off.....virtually no wear noted. Even pushing almost 3 times the designed HP through it for this long....da stuff works.
