Just got a recall in the mail for polaris scramblers, sports, and xplorer 400 ATV's 1999 modles.
This is to replace the sticking throttle cable (is this the freezing problem we all complained about last year)?

anyone else get their letter?

It's to replace the ETC (electonic throttle control)cover. Some covers were not sealing properly and letting moisture in and causing throttle and ETC problems.

Aha! the etc cover. Are they ventilating the system or making it non-ventilated? I had that problem on my 1995 Sportsman 400 for 4 winters. Frozen throttle, but the problem was down in the box mounted on the cylinder head to which the throttle cable and oil line ran which would fill with moisture and freeze.

I am glad that North Star has addressed this problem.

Hey chopper why did my throttle cable get real stiff the first time it was rode in mud and water general trail ride. It is now unsafe as it did stick and the etc switch did not activate at about 1/2 throttle. What is your idea on this also it happened to a freinds 99 scrambler also .

Jaime: All I can say is that water or dirt got into an unprotected area in the throttle cable or ECT cover and rusted or gummed something up. Guess you will just have to check the areas where mosture can get in.
