Perhaps the best setup for jumping would be the Fox struts and the stock springs. The Fox struts have a constant dampening rate, while the Works struts have a progressive dampening rate. The Fox struts would be considered "hard" all the way through it's travel with the stock springs. The Works units give easily for the first few inches of travel and then get stiffer as the travel is used up with the same springs.

To make the Fox struts seem somewhat progressive, Hot Seat makes the dual rate spring kit for them. The Works struts don't need the dual rate springs to achieve this, the stock springs will work just fine.

The dual rate springs have a separator between the springs that is longer on one end and shorter on the other. Also included are two pieces of pipe. By using the separator with the long side down and the pieces of pipe you are in effect negating the shorter, lighter spring. This makes the suspension stiffer. Or you could use just the seperator in the "long side down" position to make it a little less stiff. Or you could run it like I do with the long side up for maximum plushness. The shorter spring compresses first to give ride plushness. Once the spring is fully compressed the longer, stiffer spring takes over.

As far as ride plushness goes, it goes out the window when you add heavier ply tires and run higher air pressure in them. This is the beauty of my setup. With the softer front suspension you get about the same (if not better) ride plushness with the heavier ply tires as you do when the stock two ply tires were on it. With the Works struts you also get the bottoming resistance of a progressive strut. The best of both worlds.
