I only run my SP500 in low with the big tires on it. I have 27X12X12 vamps front and back with lift snorkel and spacers. The part where I bogged down some was where the mud is real thick. The kind of mud that will steal your shoe and not return it. My wide tires help me coming up out of rutted holes, but pushing thick mud or racing in water, they slow me down a little.

I have been hearing a lot about this ride, wish I could have made it... Know when any other similar rides will be taking place?

Can't wait to see the pictures!

Greg,
I was there also.... didn't stay for the finish of the mudraces though... I ran in the first heat against my brother (WHO DIDNT EVEN FINISH ON HIS YAMAHA) and some guy on a Honda.... I had the lead on lap one, the Honda got in front of me at the start of lap two, then I caught him in the tree line then for some UNKNOWN REASON, drove my Magnum right into the one freakin hole that can/could stop me.... Talk about pissed at myself... Oh Well, I'll be out there next time and get in the races again....
I was messing around up at the clover barrels with some friends on a Honda 400EX, a couple of Banshees, a 250X, Blaster, Warior.... We were running times to see who was fastest..
Sad part is, I was only 1.6 seconds slower on my OVERWEIGHT, OVERSIZED TIRED MAGNUM than the fastest Banshee was..... I know I was out of my element.... but it sure put the pressure on them to watch some 4x4 automatic chomping all over their @sses..
Hey, by the way... those black PVC Pipe Belt snorkels SURE DO LOOK FAMILAR... So did the ones U put on your older Red Sportsman at the River Rat Run.... Whoever you got that idea from sure must be one intelligent guy... hahahahahahahaa.

Robert,

Let me guess, your brother is probably blaming YOU for his Yamaha not finishing the race. After all, you put it together for him..lol

Ronnie,
Man.. that 2wd Yamaha that I rebuilt for him... that S.O.B. is STRONG!!!!.... I owned the bike when it was new, and it has NEVER been that powerful... We went over to the drag strip cause he wanted to line up his 2x4 against the Magnum... First time, he BEAT ME!!.... I was NOT expecting him to launch that hard... He pulled the front end up in 1st, its set down and he shifted to second and it lifted again!!.. The second and third times we ran, we ran dead even all the way... tied both times.. Guess its time to put a Wiseco Piston and Scrambler camshaft in the Magnum..
In the mudraces, he was on "OLD SMOKY!!" the 4x4 BigBear... and couldn't get out of 1st gear in the mud....(no power to turn the Vamps...)..
He's all excited about getting the 4x4 torn down and having me "work my magic" on it too....
Either way it goes, I WIN... If I win on the Polaris then I win.. If he beats me on a bike that I built the engine on. I STILL WIN!!.. hahahahahaa.... later...

I'm not brand loyal to any brand unless they give a quad to me, but who won the first desert 400 race this season? answer: its big and yellow, not red. My wife and I run 500 Scramblers my youngest son runs a 400 Scrambler and my oldest son a DS, I like mine but if something better comes along I'd buy it.
2-2000 500 Scrambler
1-2000 400 Scrambler

Yeah... seems weird huh?...Thats ok, they are just nuts and bolts when you get them apart... I can't wait to get a chance to tear down one of the Polari' for a little "tweakin'" I think I got him talked into a High performance cam to go along with the Wiseco Piston when I rebuild the 4x4 Yamaha... he was pretty embarrassed when he had to run the entire race course in 1st gear...

MudMachine,

Just so you know, the first Atv I snorkeled with black PVC was my 1999 Honda 300, then a 1998 Wolverine, then my 1998 Grizzly. I remember seeing you down at the pond with your wife on the scrambler a couple of months ago. I just hadn't had time to snorkle my Red 98 SP500.

Mudmachine,
I don't remember what forum it was in but you made some comments about an individual that degraded your snorkel set up at fun wheeler and then showed up at Marshal with their SP500 snorkeled. You also made comments about a u-joint popping. I was at Marshall and I had u-joint problems and my bike snorkeled. If you were referring to me, I don't know where you got that I was degrading the set-up on your bike. As far as you bad mouthing my bike and my maintenance of my u-joints, you should know I grease them with bel-ray everytime I ride. If you ride a SP500 hard with huge vamps on the rear, you will have to replace the $12 u-joints every 6 months. A small price to pay for the awesome ride. However, this doesn't mean they were not maintained properly.
I would have responded to your previous post but you said you saw this snorkeled SP500 on Friday, and I didn't get there until Saturday. If you weren't referring to me, disregard. If you were, let me know so I can spit on you for disrespecting your fellow Polaris Rider.
Is there no loyalty in this world.

Greg
