i've never seen a fram used on an atv but i've seen lots of them that were bad for cars. things like the low oil pressure light coming on at idle. changed the filter to wix and no more problems. not just once, more like 10 or so.

Fram makes alot of filters for other "name" brands such as ac delco and motorcraft and so forth. The ones that doesn't pass the test the other manufacturers have set as a guide they can't sell them as that brand, so they call it a Fram. Had a relative that worked there and thats what they had told me ....

I think a filter here is about $12 Cdn from the dealer. For the number of times I change oil, I just grit my teeth and pay the bill. I've used Fram filters for years on cars, etc with no problems.

Mavrick. I know that the part # for the K&N oil filter for the '03 Vinson 500 is #KN-138. I am not sure if it is any different for the '04. You could ask your dealer if they changed the oil filter at all. The WIX filter # for the 02-03 Vinson 500 is #51359. You can go to Napa and see if they can crossm reference that number to their Napa gold filter
