i have heard of people running their machines with removed airbox lids, the only thing i noticed is that it ran alot louder, what else does this exactly do to your quad, give more air to the filter?

Yea it does give it more air, but it might be on the lean side now cause of more air with out the fuel to go with it... Are you running the stock jets? You might want to check your plug and adjust the air/fuel screw to even out the mix...

hope this helps

You are not going to get any better performance from it without the lid. In fact, it may run worse. The scrambler has a CV carb that uses a vaccum in the air box to open the slide. With the lid off, the vaccum is less and the slide may not open all the way. If you want better air flow, get the HPD air box/carb mod. It has a huge scoop and recalibrates the carb so everything works together. It is more than just changing the main jet. The slide spring and needle jet tube need to be replaced

BBS, i agree with what you said, but with my scram in the summer when i took the lid off it seemed like i got some more low end torque.... That was when it was stock and i could get the front end up easier with the lid off...
