How the game plays with the throttle responds ?
#1
Again, I need some know how transfer to good old germany. On my 97 Explorer 500 (just brought it used) the throttle responds is verry poor when I open the throttle verry quick. How the air/fuel screw works? When I turn it slightly in. Is the mixture than more lean and give me a quicker trottle responds. I also just must say that I ordered a new original air filter and a new spark plug. The air filter what I have now let more air through. By the way ... what kind (heat type) of spark plug you recommend . Sorry for those beginner questions, but I got no owner or workshop manuals with it.
Many thangs in advance .

It looks like the Explorer 500 has a CVM carb. Is this correct? Have you replaced the air filter? Is the air box in good condition? The CVM carb requires vaccuum to move the slide. If the airbox or air filter are not in good condition, it will cause a delay in throttle response.

On my Explorer is a Mikuni carb fitted. I haven´t got the original air filter yet. I´m still wating for same parts from the german importer for Polaris ATV`s. What you mean by air box in good condition ? Yes the air box is clean, has no cracks and all pipes are fitted correctly. The main reson I start this thread is, that I think the pre owner from this ATV mess arround with the carb settings. Is there a factory setting for air/fuel screw?
