Default New Plug/New Power?

I put a new spark plug (AC Delco Rapidfire) in my Xpedition 425 last week and finally got a chance to test it out this weekend. WOW! What a difference in Power. My 425 feels VERY STRONG now but does it have anything to do with the type of plug or is it just because it is new (the old plug was 2yrs old)? The parts place did not have a NGK in stock and they assured me that this would work/match up fine.

I did notice a couple of things I am curious about. I noticed my 4 wheeler runs a lot cooler and that it also has a weird smell to it. The smell is identical to the smell of a brand new engine getting hot for the first time. Is it just the new plug or what?

Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

Default New Plug/New Power?

If your old plug was 2 years old, you would have had a huge improvement. The NGK plug is the right plug to run, it has the proper heat range and depth that the engineers designed the engine for. If you change to a different brand, the heat range could be (will be) different. Stick to what the engine is set up for! Get a NGK as soon as you can.

Thanks for the help! I did get a chance to check with Advance Auto about the new plug and they said that the computer automatically brings up every plug in that heat range/size, so the AC Delco should match the NGK. Either way, I will try and purchase a NGK as soon as possible and switch them out. I will just use the AC Delco for a spare.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Default New Plug/New Power?

I like to stick with what the manufactures recommend. I run NGK im my dirtbike and in the scram. And Harley plug in the Harleys. I have tried Splitfire and Champion plugs in the Harley, and the stock Harley plugs seems to last longer
