How do you bypass it so that the AWD works properly. I am experiencing this problem right now and they want a ton of money for a new speedo head. I would not mind getting a new speedo if I could be sure this problem work not come back in a year on the new speedo. Sounds like this is an on going problem with the POlaris.

I can get a photocopy of the wiring diagram from the dealer but I am wondering what other information needs to go through the speedo for the AWD to work. Right now the only thing happening on the speedo that is not normal is the battery indicator flashes all the time and when I switch to diagnostic mode it only shows 1.0 Volts. An external volt meter shows 12.4 volts at the battery and the charging system if functioning normally. I loose the AWD from time to time and I am thinking that it is sensing a low voltage from the battery. Everything else in the speedo is OK. Usually I loose the AWD about 1/2 way through a days ride.

You wouldn't be bypassing the power to the speedo, just hook into the wire (when you find it) before the speedo and then after the speedo. Whatever it is that goes wrong with the speedo causes a "break" if you will in the flow from the battery to the magnetic coil in the hilliard. I don't own a polaris any longer so I don't have a shop manual, but I remember looking at the schematic back when I had my 01 HO and had figured out how to do it if I ever needed to. I don't know if things are different on the newer pods like what was on my 03 700 and the machine you have.
