Hi!

The warranty on my Magnum ended, so I decided to start changing the oil myself. I have two related questions:

1. Because this engine has an oil cooler (radiator), should I drain it too, so no old oil stays there?

2. Is there any special procedure to change the oil, because of the radiator? (even if I don't drain it).

(Nothing is noted specifically on the manual).

Thanks!

I have the 325 in my wifes trail boss. I would not worry about the oil in the radiator as long as you are changing the oil on a regular basis. The manual says the entire system holds 1.9 quarts and you need 1.7 to change it. I would not worry about the .2 quarts in the radiator.

You might try taking the plug wire off and turning the motor over while the drain plug is removed to pump some of the old oil out. I do this on my Harley chopper to get the last of the old oil out of my remote filter. Just make sure the plug wire is off so you don't start it up.

I don't worry about the oil in my cooler either. The only bad thing is none of ther holes is the skid plate line up under the drain pluge.
