how can i tell if coolant is getting into my counter balance oil? i dont see any coolant on my dipstick
and i dont want to drain my oil if i dont have to. will the coolant just leak in there over time or does the motor have to run for a long time? i got it pretty hot yesterdayand i still dont see any coolant on the dip stick actually i dont really see anything on the dip stick. i have better than the 70ccs of oil in there and i still cant see it..

well the oil went in looking like honey and came out looking like weak coffee. so i would say that the counter balance is in bad shape not surpriseing seeing as how there was no drain plug in it when i got it
so should i just get the gaskets or should i get new bearings put in it??

Weak coffee? I don't think that is anything to worry about. You do not want it to have any white or foam stuff in it. How did you get it with no drain plug? was it the recoil drain plug that was missing? Are you sure you are pulling the right plug? Mine has three drain plugs close together.

I had a bad water pump seal and water contaminated my c/b oil unbeknownst to me and it locked it up. The repair bill was really expensive. It's not too hard to change and now I change it probably after every 4 or 5 rides just to be sure. Cheap insurance to warrant it never happens again. Just keep an eye on your coolant level and make sure it doesn't drop. There's also a weep hole that is supposed to tell you if your seal is bad but it is so hard to find and is easily obstructed so as to never know about it.
