2002 Scrambler 400 carb problem?
#1
I have a 2002 400 scrambler X 4x4 I bought it used It has a Dynoport pipe and silencer the problem I have is when it is reved and then I let go of gas wether I am driving coming to a stop or if I let sit in neutral and do it it tends to die out unless I feather the gas, it does it very abruptly like I hit the kill switch, it will stay running if I blip the gas, I have already pulled the carb apart I have a 250 main jet stock pilot jet, air screw 1.5 turns out, needle in middle slot I totally cleaned carb and all ports in it, is there anything I am missing the only thing I did not do was check the float level it runs fine when riding hard or just cruising, but as soon as I come to a stop It tries to die like I hit the kill switch any Idea,s

How about just unplug the ETC from the throttle and see if the problem goes away. The quad will run without the ETC pluged in.That is the easiest thing to try and if tat isn't it then maybe its a carb problem.
I would also have a hard time believing that it is your reeds because if it was it would be hard to start and you would feel something wrong with the quads proformance. It wouldn't be as crisp,it would studder,it might sound different and just wouldn't have normal power.
Good LUCK Hope you fined the problem

ETC Is the wire going into the thottle. It should be two wires into a plug on the throttle-It maybe gray and brown.
Also if you don't want to loose this system You'll have to open up the throttle box and see wants wrong-maybe the spring that holds the wires apart is rusted and lost it's spring-y-ness. But, just dissconect the plug from the throttle box to see if that fixes it.
All the etc dose is stop the engine like a kill switch if the throttle cable gets frozen or broke or gets stuck by dirt. It's a safety thing-If the throttle gets stuck wide open it should shut off the motor. It has been known to F-ck up the way the engine runs.
Try it You have nothing to loose

The ETC is in the black box your thumb lever is hooked into. You have to pry the cover off with a small flat blade screw driver. If it is cold you have to be careful not to crack the cover, it becomes very brittle!
