warn on 400 scrambler?
#1
Just wondering if anybody ever put a warn winch on a 400? I know they are made for a Sportsman which has a 250 or 260 watt stator and the scrambler has a 150 watt. The winch draws 14-20 amps and this is my concern.

A winch at full pull draws 100 amps or more.
How does a winch motor draw so much current when an alternator produces so little?
The trick: the winch draws its current from the "storage" battery, not the alternator.
Don't worry about your electrical system's capability to support a winch; the battery's amp-hour rating alone paces the application (A 14 amp-hour battery won't power a winch at full pull for very long; hopefully, long enough to get you unstuck. If you draw the battery down, you'll simply have to wait while you charge it up again with the alternator. Good idea: keep the engine running while winching.).

Thanks,TreeFarmer I got a used winch and have been dieing to mount it on the scramber, I figured it would save my belt from burning up every time I have to pull someone out of the mud.
Now I can stay on shore and give them the hook instead.
