Does any one know if you can change the spark plug in the 99 sc500 without removing gas tank? Is there a special wrench that will fit in the cramped space. Also my dealer gave me a "colder" plug, He said it won't make a difference, is this true? any insight would help, thanks.

Use the wrench that came with your machine, should be able to remove side panel and get to plug with out too much effort.

Corn? I don't remember eatin' no corn!!!!...
Sorry man, I HAD to...
Anyway, On the Scrambler, yes it is possible... From the right side of the bike, if you wiggle your hand jsut right, bite your lip, and pass gas all at the exact same time, you can actually get the 5/8 deepwell socket in there, then a short extension, then on the third trip take the ratchet in there..
I use two sockets for the job, one with the rubber removed so that it will fall down onto the socket, once I get it backed out, I pull that socket and use one with the rubber in it to "grip" the sparkplug and remove it.
I know this seems like alot of work, but its STILL easier than pulling the gas tank.
