Shaft drive is all around better for many reasons, but I would only want it on a utility machine, chain drive is good for sports only.
shaft drive-- sealed
no lube
chain cant fall off
dont have to replace chains
no chain guards,rollers, etc
no tension adjustment neccasary
no chain guard needed etc.....................
