Default Bad Battery??

Hey guys and gals. Quick question for you. I have a 2004.5 Sportsman 500, ran great since Sept. In the beginning of Dec I had the plow and winch installed. Since then we have had approx 4 storms in which I used it. Garage kept, so it is out of the extreme cold. But between the storms approx every 2 weeks. It has had a dead battery. Both times it started with one pull, just no enough to turn over on it's own. I am going to check it out this weekend. Just wondering if anyone has anything further I can check, besides the following: While at idle, volt meter on battery > 13.5 VDC; While shut off taking one lead off battery voltmeter between lead and terminal, there should be no current draw. I have a sneaky suspition that it has to do with the winch.....is there anything I can check on that end? Admittedly when plowing you are using the winch a lot, but does it really draw that much juice to kill the battery? Thanks in advance for any input.

Default Bad Battery??

I would think if your running the wench w/ the motor running then there would be enough current to keep the battery up. Personally I would take the battery out and charge it up. Once its charged up I would run it up to the nearest autozone or that type of place and let them do a load test on the battery to see if it has a bad cell. Just because its a new battery doesnt mean its good. I ran into the same thing on my predator. The load test should be free of charge.....only takes a minute to do and could keep you from hours of searching for a battery drain............ my 2 cents
Plus if you let your atv set for extended amounts of time then it might be wise to purchase a battery tender..... walmart has them pretty cheap.
