has anybody tried using a stock 400 silencer with and aftermarket exhaust system? did it run quieter?

that would defeat the entire idea on having an exhaust system.

I have heard of people doing that for the sole fact that the stock silencer is the quietest one out there. The stock silencer doesnt really inhibit the exhaust that much from what I heard. The pipe itself is what makes the power

Pretty sure the HPD trail pipe will work with the stock silencer.

I know that there are a few people on here with an aftermarket pipe and stock silencer that are happy with that setup. If in doubt, give Rick a call

I ran the HPD trail pipe for qute some time with the stock silencer and it sounded nice. You could really hear that "tingy" sound from the pipe. It ran strong as well.

I run the HPD trail pipe with the stock silencer too. I got more power without the noise. I'd like to go with the HPD MTQ when I get the cash. Would I need to rejet if I change the silencer?
