yup
belt time

i would chalk it up as experience and buy a new belt and replace it yourself (so you know how to do it)

If you do pull it yourself:
Be sure the rubber coupler boot that fits onto the belt cover/snorkel is secure with some tie-wire upon re-installation,,,,,if water get in there you will be dead in the water (literally) (generally speaking make sure that cover is sealed good

I dont know anything about cars or atv........I took it today to get its first service and asked them too look at it. My dealer makes you take it there for the first service anyway.

Would it be easy to do myself with my knowledge? The book doesnt say how to replace it.......is it just like remove old one and put new one in? The dealer is gonna call me once he checks it out....I guess if labor is too much and if its easy i might try to do it.

Would a extrea belt be a good thing to keep on the trailer? Do they go easily?

he just spent over 5'gs on a new quad.... polaris can give him a belt after 3 weeks no matter who's fault it was.
wear and tear excuse is BS... not after 3 weeks.. and pullin his buddy out shouldnt have smoked his belt... maybe hurt it.. but not ruin it.

Not a bad idea to keep an extra belt handy but they usually do not wear out that easily. I've had my Scrambler for about 8 months and just now replaced the belt but I also have performance clutches and ride very aggressively.

They should put a damn neon sign from the factory on all Scrammy's.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TOW! WHEN WHEELS ARE NOT TURNING YOU ARE FRYING BELT!

I learned my lesson already.

Good luck.

Exactly,
If nothing else it should be part of the Polaris safety training.

I love my Scram,,,but I hate belts!!

You could have..

1. Warped the cover (from heat, did that)
2. Fried the belt (you obviously have done this)
3. Damage the clutch itself (did that)

If you do not have low gear, do not tow (Scrammys obviously don't). If your rear wheels are not spinning and you are on the throttle, you are wasting belt.

USER

When you drove back to the trailer was it at high rpms yet it was going nowhere. If so I would say it was these things called buttons that are inside the actual clutch. Also, if you are lucky and didnt snap off the screws it is cheap to fix. I had this hapen to me on my 98 scram 500 4x4 while jumping my quad. Also, check that belt because you definately smoked the heck out of it. They are relatively cheap as well.

I would look into gettin a new belt before the old one turns into spagetti inside the PVT housing. Been there done that just a couple of weeks ago. lol
