Thanks for the great laughes!!!!
1996 Indy 550 doing 102 in 12" of snow!!!!
A stock 800 (doesn't matter what company) doing 130!!!!
A REV 600HO at 117, maybe I can buy that with all the mods...
Indy Classic 600 at 110!!!
But my favorite is AKracer's Summet 600 going 120!!!
Those are some really good ones!!!!!! If you crazy kooks were to post those on a snowmobile forum you would get trash talked big time!
No offence to anyone here...

Yeah I know for a fact 120 with a summit is stretching it...the longer track kills top end big time...I would know...and for the 600 rev at 117, its only believable thanks to the mods, sad part is a stock F6 efi will be neck and neck with you at the end...proven, ive seen, that and a F7 only does like 124 I think, and thats the second fastest sled you can buy. Another thing is since was an indy lite 3 cylinders?? 550 are fans last I knew, and there is no fan tripple!!! Whats up with that?
By the way my dads F5 tops out at 97 and Snow-Tech got 97.67 so where close. Thats the fastest damn 500 ive ever seen.
and catterman I think if you go to the sled forums without a polaris sled you get trashed on!! Those polaris boys are sure afraid of those firecats, but who wouldnt be a 700 with 140 HP, yahoo!!!!!
One last thing, mudmaster, the stock Rx-1 does not have a turbo and only makes 130...
Dont argue with me, I live for snowmobiling, i eat, breath, sleep, and talk sleds, and i read sno-tech american-snowmobiler and sledheads. the facts are there and i know them.

Just to clearify. I know very little about snowmobiles but the place I bought it from told me it was a 550. All the info I can find on it tells me that it is a 600 triple. According to the NADA book the listing says 589cc. As to 102 MPH that is what the speedo said. That speed is only as accurate as the speedometer. Next time I will take my GPS then I will know. I have had "Bubba" up to 84 mph on my GPS in this same field last summer and I know that I was going faster than that.

Also, Polaris' 550 fan only came out in 2000 I believe. It replace their old 440 fan in most sleds, like the SS and lower end touring machines ...
For whoever asked it ... the RX-1 is a 999CC L-4 4 stroke based on Yammi's R-1 bike engine. It is not turbo, as someone else pointed out, and first year production runs baselined the output at between 145 and 150HP.
