the tracks... a review
#1
Will as you know I burned my first belt.
On saturday morning my pal changed the belt for me, the other one was fried!!
He cleaned the clutch best he could without taking it out, and remember he did this outside in the cold.
After that he test drove it for about 10 miles, all was waorking great.
He then Plowed some snow in my long up-hill driveway man this baby can Plow with the tracks!!!!!! he was able to plow away all the heavy old banks of snow lift there by othe bikes with plows.
He said it's unreal what it can move.
while all this was going on, I called AD Boivin, and got to talk to a TECH right away!!, I asked him why I could only get about 30mph on flat hard packed snow covered roads, when the adds all say only 10-20% top end lost, he told me that the tracks take about 20 hours of riding time to break in, and that I should see my top end coming up slowly, and he was right, it's now up to around 35 -37 mph.
Also, when in snow, you must use only LOW Gear, high gear only on flat hard packed.
Now time for me to test ride
this thing is really goog in the snow, but you must take it slow, I climbed a few hills and it was great.
I still don't trust the belt because on my rides this weekend I could smell the belt if I was going up a long trail. The bike was in low, but I could smell the belt, once in a while, when the bike was working.
A good friend of mine who put the heelclicker in my old 700 told me that it's maybe just the little bits of the old belt that stayed in there, and when the clutch gets hot the small bits burn. What do you think?? this only happends on long hills, but it seems to be a lot less now, and Time will tell.
One other friend who is the "Man" of toys and driving them, tested the bike in deep snow for me, that included climbing high steep snow banks, and and deep powder, he could not believe it.
This system turns heads big time, and on my two rides out everyone is stopping me and asking all about the tracks and bike.
on sunday morning @ 8:00 when I was going out to ride, a guy from down the road was out there checking out the tracks, now he is getting a set for his 700. One hour later another guy said he has to to have a set.
Only time will tell, but this system seems to good. I hope that the belt smell goed away on the long climbs.
If your looking for a sled, this is not it, but if you wanna have pure fun, and work this system is it.
I burned $20 gas @ .85 a liter so thats about 23.5 liters FOR THE FIRST 41 miles, that included getting stuck the first nite, and lots of test diving in deep snow, and a little plowing.....moving what the other big bikes could not
so what do you think??
