help with scrambler

Default help with scrambler

I just rebuilt my scrambler 400. I put it all back together and it will not start. It has good spark and had gas. any ideas?

it has compression from what ic an tell by pulling the pull start since i have no starter or battery

Well if the only thing you rebuilt was the top end right? If so you might not have enough compression, are you sure you have the piston ring gaps staggered? and its bored and honed correctly?

little OT but how do you like that White Bros E series on tha Z400?? Just bought one for my scrammy 500

I have been very dissapointed with it it might be because im running a power bomb header with it though

If you're positive you have spark at the plug and fresh gas in the carb then as long as the compression is there it should fire. Don't just rely on the pull start to tell you have good compression. Put a compression tester on there and see what you get. You may have a problem with your piston installation.

Ya,,,sounds like it would be compression...But if you said everything is A ok then I know I rebuilt some things on my scrammy..I have an electric start but it wasn't wanting to fire up....All mine needed was a little boost so I sprayed a little bit of ether into the air intake in the carb...It fired up after that on high choke...if you try it don't overdue it with ether...that crap will burn up crap if there is to much in there...but good luck on getting it running..I still say its compression...but good luck.
