while i was at my dealers today they had a shipment of atv's drop off by semi....the driver told the owner of the dealership he had something to show him...i know the owner real while so i tagged along....the driver said he wasn't supposed to show this to anyone but he let us hope up in the truck and he turn the light on inside and he had a 700 twin in a sportsman it was grey/silver color like some of the limited edition 500's....other than the 700 twin engine they were the same thing as the 500....the guy said the only problem with them so far is because of the torque the 700 puts out that they are burning a lot of belts with it....don't know what this means for further production and when they will be available but they definatley are coming

mngoat, you lucky dog! Just one question was the motor any wider than the 500? I'm sure they will just put a factory clutch kit in it to cure the belt problem. I wonder what the top end is like, bet there fast! I've heard from a reliable source they will be part of the 2001 model line.

MNGOAT, were you at Heininen@Mason? Is that where this happened? Doesn't it seem strange that he would be hauling it around? To where and for what reason? Maybe he is looking for me and wants me to
test it out for them? Just kidding about the last comment! rangerchet

i was wondering why a driver would have a prototype machine on his truck? was he taking it to a testing facility? i thought all testing and manufacturing was done in roseau. i know the dealer show would be the first place they would show it and its not untill september.

rangerchet...don't know why the driver had one in his truck...i asked him want he was doing with it but he really wouldn't tell me but he said he was heading back to roseau...don't know if they were testing it someplace else for some reason or not...mnxploer then engine didn't look any wider than the 500 but it was tough to get details because it was tucked way up in front of the bed and the lighting wasn't real good....we really wanted him to pull it out
but he wouldn't..he said we were lucky to see want we were seeing.

guys or gals....just stating the facts to what i seen whether you want to believe it or not that's up to you....but it just confirms alot of other post that have been posted b/4....i'm sure you'll been seeing the prototypes is september....i asked the dealer if he was surprised about the 700 and he said no that they were expecting it to come for several months now....polcat2.. i don't think i got anybody fired were not the first one's that have seen this prototype and it's not like it's some top secret gov't thing.. if it was that secret it wouldn't have been on the truck in the first place...but mentioning the place i seen it at wasn't real smart
...but they'll be seen in a few months anyways and someone asked so i told them...ride hard

polcat2, I think Polaris does this intentionally, My dealer also told me about the xpedition and concentric sys. long before they where released. His rep leaked news of the 700 sportsman to him over a month ago. It wasn't long before he told me. This is just planned PR leakage to get everone stirred up about their new models. I think its working can't wait to test drive one!
