Mud and water with a open air box or a clamp on are a no no. I have seen some mods that might be ok but most of them modify the top and that is after the filter. I would not trust it. I have seen some after market airboxes like from UMI and a couple others on E-bay but I do not have any personal experiences with them so I cannot say definately. It is really dry out here so it is not that big of a deal. I just cannot ride a few times a year. As long as the mud is not real watery you may be able to get away with running an outerwear on a clamp on, they say that they are water repelant?????? Sorry for the long post.

CFM and UM make aluminum boxes. Both are heavy duty pieces. With the 1760 clamp on and an Outware work great for all around riding. The key is to purchase the "WR" water resistant Outerware, and make sure to maintain your K&N.
