Default 1999 Trailblazer chain adjustment 30#,40#, 60#

Hello! I just purchased a used 1999 Polaris Trailblazer! This is my first ATV. It only has 10 hours or so on it, this thing is about flawless! I am really impressed with Polaris. I looked at a lot of ATV's before I decided upon going with a Polaris. I fell into the trailblazer as it was for sale by my son's baseball practice.

I would like to tighten the chain as it has never been tightened. I would say there is about 1" of slack. I read all the posts that I could find here on the forum but there seems to be some conflict, so maybe somebody could help?

I read to torque the two main concentric bolts to 30# without a hitch, and the 40# with a hitch, and then someone said to torque it down to 60#. There were quite a few post where the chain quickly got slack back in them so I was wondering if this was caused by lack of torque as 30#'s seems less then adaquate.

I am trying to get this thing rady for Croom, in Brooksville, Florida, this Sunday. Anything else that I should check beside tire pressure, zerk fittings lubed, battery charged, and gear oil level, as well as tighten the chain and lube it?

One more question, what lube to use in the gearbox?

Thanks... Looking forward to replies and very forward to riding this weekend! By the way I got a killer deal on a Polaris Bell Moto 7 helmet on Ebay. It's 114 grams, is made of Kevlar, and carbon fiber, and has a replaceable liner. All for $89! Let me know if anybody want's the link. It is really a killer helmet!

I also instralled and Endurance computer to show MPH, and hours along with like 10 other features. Seems like a cool product too!

I just tighten the bolts down as tight as I can usually, mostly because I don't have time to get out the torq bar. I think the manual calls for a lot more than even 60 ftlbs, I thought it was something like 100ftlbs. I would just tighten it until it was tight, and if it comes loose, then just do it over. The process doesn't take more than about 10 minutes. In the gear box, I use bel-ray 80w. I'm not sure what the weight is, but it is bel-ray. Someone else will know the numbers.
