Polaris 400 Sportsman Wheels
On the newer models Polaris has moved the rear brake to the axle instead of the previous location off the transmission. In order to fit the new brake system, the wheel size had to be increase to 12".
In my experience, part of the reason Polaris' performed so well in the wet/mud was due to the extra flotation provided by having a smaller diameter wheel - 25X12(or 11)X10 vs. 25X11X12 wheel - smaller wheel - same tire height = more air volume = greater flotation.
