I am rebuilding a 350 4x4. I replaced the bearings in the lower unit including the counternalance bearing.
When I reinstalled the counterbalance gear I could not find the dot on the counterbalance to line it up. so I guessed by looking at a pic in the manuel.
I tried to start it and it will not start.
I have spark.
this thing was sitting up for a few years on a farm and somthing chewed a few wires but i THINK i have them repaired.
thats why im looking at the counterbalance timing.
If you have a counterbalance with the gear in it PLEASEsend me a pic.
thanks Todd

Tinkerman, I went out in the shop, set everything up and shot a few pics, deleted a couple of my pics in profile and replaced w/ counterballance pics. I dont know how long the approval takes but they are pending now. Just incase they dont go for some reason, the crank gear has a punch mark on one side but not the other, the counter ballance had a punch mark on each side. Also the punch mark on the crank gear was centered on the same side as the key way. The marks are about 1/8" in from the bottom of the teeth. I hope this helps you. good luck.
